Amethyst Root with UV Reactive Phantoms (Possible Powellite- Pending Lab Results) 3/18
Condition: Natural, Unpolished
Weight/Dimensions: 58 g, 2.5”
UV Activity: Fluorescent phantoms — possible powellite (pending lab confirmation)
This exceptional material comes from the amethyst-rich region of Cordeiros, Bahia, Brazil — and stands out for its raw, completely unpolished condition. Most amethyst from this locale is sold fully polished, but these were sourced specifically in their natural form, showcasing intense etching, raw texture, and character-rich features.
What makes these even more fascinating is their phantom structure. Under normal lighting, you’ll see smoky-brown internal phantoms layered within the quartz. But under UV light, those same phantoms glow bright yellow — an effect strongly associated with powellite. In 2019, lab testing confirmed the presence of powellite in similar material from this locality. However, due to ongoing speculation around newer batches, fresh testing is currently underway. For anyone who purchases from this batch in the meantime, I’ll be sending out an email with the updated lab results as soon as they come in.
Adding to their uniqueness, these roots also display multiple key imprints — evidence that other quartz points once grew around them and later detached, leaving behind natural impressions and recessed shapes.
Highlights:
• Raw, unpolished amethyst with bold natural etching
• Smoky-brown phantoms that fluoresce yellow under UV light
• UV-reactive phantoms linked to powellite (2019 testing confirmed; current batch results pending)
• Email notification with updated test results will be sent to all buyers
• Abundant key marks from former crystal attachments
• Ethically sourced, directly from Brazil
• Rare to find in natural form — most on the market are fully polished
Each piece offers a raw, untouched glimpse into the geological story of Cordeiros — equally suited for collectors, UV mineral enthusiasts, or anyone drawn to high-vibration natural specimens with both visual and mineralogical depth.
