A beautiful large “Blonde Dragon Scale” calcite from the famous Sweetwater Mine, featuring the distinctive elongated, tapered crystal habit this material is known for. The crystal has a warm honey-blonde coloration with good translucency, becoming especially beautiful when backlit. Its broad faces show the finely textured, almost scale-like surface growth responsible for the “Dragon Scale” nickname Smaller calcite crystals remain attached around the base, and sparkling chalcopyrite phantoms can be seen inside. At over 5 inches tall and well over half a kilo, this is a substantial example of one of the more recognizable and sought-after calcite habits from Missouri’s Viburnum Trend.
