A gorgeous large “Blonde Dragon Scale” calcite from the famous Sweetwater Mine, with warm golden-blonde color, excellent translucency, and the elongated tapered form characteristic of this unusual material. The broad crystal faces have a fine, naturally textured surface that catches the light beautifully, but the real highlight is inside: a sparkling chalcopyrite phantom is visible within the calcite, preserving an earlier stage of the crystal’s growth and flashing through the body as the piece is turned. Small remnants of metallic mineralization are also present along the lower edge. At nearly 6 inches long, this is a substantial and especially interesting example of Missouri Dragon Scale calcite.
