This sculptural calcite from Yunnan, China almost looks as though it has been frozen in the middle of melting. Broad, creamy yellow calcite rosettes cascade over the front of the specimen, creating a beautiful “dripping” appearance that gives the piece incredible movement.

One of its standout features is its exceptional fluorescence. Under UV, the calcite glows an intense icy white with hints of electric blue, and after the UV light is removed, it continues to emit a beautiful phosphorescent glow before gradually fading. Specimens displaying both such strong fluorescence and phosphorescence are always a treat, making this an especially fun display piece for collectors who enjoy UV minerals.
