Weight: Under 1 gram
Dimensions: 37 mm
Locale: Itinga, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Long, slender, and beautifully transparent, this natural green elbaite tourmaline displays a rich emerald-green body with bright flashes of lighter green when backlit. Fine vertical striations run the full length of the crystal, giving it the classic appearance collectors look for in Brazilian tourmaline.
This crystal is unterminated, ending in a natural growth break rather than a finished termination. Even so, its exceptional luster, vibrant color, and elegant proportions make it a wonderful display specimen and an excellent example of Itinga tourmaline.
Itinga is one of Brazil’s most productive tourmaline localities, famous for producing colorful elbaite crystals in shades ranging from vivid greens and blues to pinks and watermelon varieties. The region continues to be one of the world’s premier sources for collector-quality tourmaline.
