Glassy Lilac Rosette Amethyst on Yellow Calcite
Glassy Lilac Rosette Amethyst on Yellow Calcite
A truly ethereal formation from Uruguay, this sculptural specimen features vivid yellow calcite topped with lavender and pale lilac amethyst in sharply defined rosettes. The amethyst displays distinct radial growth with internal zoning and a glassy luster, forming spiky crystalline blooms that look almost floral in their geometry. In the center of the largest rosette, an unusual tubular inclusion—likely an earlier-stage chalcedony or silica core—adds a natural “eye” feature that sets this piece apart.
The calcite matrix shows clear signs of natural dissolution, with etched and recessed surfaces that create striking depth and texture—offering a beautiful contrast to the sharp, glassy amethyst terminations. These scalloped and skeletal surfaces reflect dynamic mineral formation over time.
