Deep “grape jelly” amethyst crystals sit atop a sparkling landscape of etched druzy quartz and etched calcite in warm shades of red, peach, and orange, creating a really beautiful contrast.
What makes this piece especially interesting is the sculptural matrix beneath the amethyst. It appears that calcite crystals once occupied these spaces and were later replaced by glittering druzy quartz, leaving behind intricate hexagonal casts and cavities that give the specimen a lot of character and depth. No matter which angle you view it from, there is something new to appreciate.
