An incredible large fenster quartz cluster from a privately worked, undisclosed mine in Laos. This specimen is made up of complex intergrown quartz crystals displaying pronounced fenster, or “window,” growth- recessed faces, skeletal development and layered internal architecture that give the piece a naturally geometric, cavernous appearance. Warm golden-tan clay inclusions occur throughout the quartz and collect along growth zones, beautifully emphasizing the crystal’s complicated formation. Areas range from water-clear to lightly smoky and champagne-toned, with countless reflective internal surfaces, windows and overlapping crystal faces that reveal something different from every angle. At over two pounds, this is a substantial and highly sculptural example of the unusual quartz coming from this locality. The exact mine location is intentionally withheld due to the sensitive nature of mining at the site.
