This amazing cutbase specimen from Artigas, Uruguay contains rich, juicy purple amethyst crowned by a large calcite crystal that has been naturally etched into delicate, paper-thin sheets. The unusual bladed texture is believed to be the result of hydrothermal dissolution, giving the calcite a sculptural, feather-like appearance that is rarely seen.
