This massive quartz from Laos is a complete floater double-terminated crystal displaying an unusual bent growth habit, with its crystallographic orientation shifting through the body to create a distinct S-shaped profile while remaining terminated at both ends. Rather than growing along one straight axis, the crystal has a chunky, offset form that becomes especially apparent when viewed from the side. Throughout the interior are warm tan-to-brown clay/mineral inclusions, veils, fractures and complex growth features that give the crystal incredible depth when illuminated. Even more impressive are the moving enhydros, including fluid pockets containing sediment that can visibly move when the crystal is turned. The exact mine locality is intentionally withheld at the source due to restrictions surrounding mineral extraction in the area. Between its substantial 2.64-pound size, complete double termination, unusual S-shaped bent growth, inclusions, enhydros and observable moving sediment, this is an exceptionally interesting example of Laos quartz.
