Dimensions: 845 grams | 5 x 3.6 x 3.6 inches
Ex. Ðoàn Kim Hoa Collection
An exceptional, ultra-dark black smoky quartz crystal from northern Vietnam, showing off deep natural coloration and outstanding surface quality.
This specimen notably displays:
- Near-opaque, inky black body color (it has great clarity with a backlight too)
- Extremely high, mirror-like luster
- Sharp, complete termination
- Distinct elestial growth habits
- Fine druzy development along one lateral face
- Fully self-healed underside
- Self-standing (no need for a base!)
- Attached white feldspar matrix
The color is entirely natural. This piece has not been heated or artificially darkened. The saturation is the result of natural irradiation over millions of years, which is a highly sought-after characteristic feature of high-grade Vietnamese smoky material from this region.
The termination is intact and well-formed, with crisp edges and strong reflectivity across the faces. The elestial structure creates strong textural complexity along the prism and upper termination.
One side hosts a fine layer of druzy quartz, providing micro-crystalline sparkle that contrasts beautifully with the dark glassy primary faces.
The base is completely self-healed, indicating natural detachment and regrowth within the pocket environment. The remaining white matrix appears to be feldspar, still firmly attached and providing strong visual contrast and stability. This piece stands on its own, and does not require any additional base/stand to keep it upright!
At 845 grams, this is a substantial cabinet specimen with excellent balance and architectural presence.
