NEW FIND 2+ ENHYDRO Bi-Colored Pink & Green Halite (I)
These gorgeous pink and green halite crystals come straight from the extreme environment of Death Valley, California. This color combination is a brand new discovery!
Halite, or rock salt, forms as mineral-rich water evaporates, leaving behind beautifully structured salt crystals. The intense pink hues come from halophilic bacteria thriving in the hypersaline brine, while the green tones likely result from algae or trace minerals. The combination creates some of the most striking natural salt formations out there.
Death Valley’s scorching heat and high evaporation rates make it the perfect place for halite to grow. These crystals typically form in seasonal salt flats, like those in the Cottonball Basin, where water pools just long enough for the minerals to crystallize into delicate cubic structures.
Origin: Death Valley, California, USA 🇺🇸
Dimensions: 4.2”x3.2”x1.8”
**This piece has at least 2 moving enhydros! The bubbles are trapped between sheets of halite, and are squished and slow-moving. This will come with arrow stickers showing where each enhydro is.
HANDLING & STORAGE
To preserve halite, store it in a dry, low-humidity environment, ideally in a sealed container with desiccant packs to absorb moisture. Handle it with dry hands or gloves to prevent surface damage from oils and sweat, and clean it using a soft brush or compressed air instead of water. If displaying openly, keep it away from water sources, direct sunlight, and high humidity. For added protection, wrap specimens in acid-free tissue paper or place them in a padded container to prevent breakage.
