Bubblegum Pink Halite (A)

Bubblegum Pink Halite (A)

Pink Halite is a visually striking mineral composed of sodium chloride (NaCl). It forms in the salt flats through the slow evaporation of mineral-rich waters, creating delicate cubic crystal structures in shades ranging from soft pink to deep rose. The coloration is due to halophilic bacteria and algae that thrive in the highly saline environment. Its intricate formations, glassy luster, and natural beauty make it a prized specimen for collectors. However, because of its solubility, Pink Halite must be kept dry and handled carefully to prevent deterioration.

HANDLING & STORAGE

To preserve halite, store it in a dry, low-humidity environment, ideally in a sealed container with desiccant packs to absorb moisture. Handle it with dry hands or gloves to prevent surface damage from oils and sweat, and clean it using a soft brush or compressed air instead of water. If displaying openly, keep it away from water sources, direct sunlight, and high humidity. For added protection, wrap specimens in acid-free tissue paper or place them in a padded container to prevent breakage.
