Ex. Ðoàn Kim Hoa Collection
A structurally complex quartz cluster from Bắc Kạn, northern Vietnam, featuring numerous reverse scepter formations across a self-standing matrix.
Reverse scepters are incredibly uncommon growth formations! They occur when a second phase of quartz growth develops more along the sides of a crystal than at the tip, creating a smaller or slightly recessed cap above a wider base. In this piece, several crystals show this inverted growth pattern, reflecting changes in the mineral-rich fluids during its formation.
The overall structure suggests multi-phase growth within an open-pocket environment, where changes in temperature, chemistry, or pressure triggered nequipment crystallization cycles.
The golden coloration is due to high amounts of iron oxide inclusions which is common from this region.
Material from Bắc Kạn is recognized for unusual growth habits and sculptural clustering, and this piece is an excellent representation of that structural diversity!
