An incredibly lustrous cluster of “Garden Amethyst” from Sichuan, China, made up of numerous smoky amethyst crystals with dramatic darker zoning concentrated toward the terminations. Fine specularite occurs both within the crystals and exposed across their surfaces, creating an ultra-sparkly, glitter-dusted appearance as the specimen moves through the light. Smaller green epidote crystals and scattered hematite flecks add even more detail throughout the cluster, with several clearer secondary crystals providing contrast against the deeper-colored central points. The combination of inclusions, zoning, sparkle, and densely intergrown crystals makes this an especially interesting example of the material known locally in China as “Garden Amethyst.”
