Locale: Bắc Kạn Province, Vietnam
Dimensions: 206 grams | 3.6 x 3 x 2.6 inches
Ex. Ðoàn Kim Hoa Collection
A fully developed spherical quartz cluster from Bắc Kạn, northern Vietnam, exhibiting a unique and complete radial growth structure with densely packed white druzy points projecting in all directions.
This specimen formed as a three-dimensional radiating aggregate, often described as a “hedgehog” or spherical quartz cluster where individual quartz crystals nucleated from a central core and grew outward simultaneously. The result is a nearly complete ball structure with terminations pointing in every direction!
The white coloration is typical of quartz formed in hydrothermal environments where rapid crystallization and micro-inclusions create a milky, (yet lustrous), appearance. The fine druzy coating indicates secondary micro-crystal growth over earlier-formed crystals, adding a gorgeous sparkly aesthetic.
Material from Bắc Kạn is known for complex cluster formations and growth habits, often forming in open-pocket hydrothermal systems where quartz crystals had space to develop outward in all directions.
